Biography

Born November 10, 1988 Michael Callas is a Former Architectural student turned painter. With a passion for the arts, Michael left school to pursue painting full time. Influenced by the draftsmen like qualities of architectural renderings, Michael has applied mechanical techniques to his paintings. He has reinterpreted high-impact iconic images through his lightning rod approach to appropriation that is both timeless and innovative.

Michael’s current body of work “The Art of War” consist of  large-scale works on canvas. He focuses on the relationships between freedom, and equality, with the intention to disarm the viewer with literal interpretations as well as juxtaposing whimsical imagery with serious literature.

Reclusive by nature, Michael maintains a private studio in the Los Angeles area where he lives and works.
