Buying artwork from Detour Gallery is a simple process. However, it is important for you to know the following information:
1. Inquire about a painting:
When you find a painting on our website that you like, you may inquire about it to learn more. Under each artwork, there is an inquiry button. When pressed, you will be asked to fill in name, email, phone, and a personal message. Here you can specify your interest in what you wish to learn such as price and availability. The collection is continuously updated, but there is always a possibility that a painting has just been sold.
As soon your inquiry has been submitted a Detour staff member will contact you shortly after to provide you with information about the artwork. We would also be able to provide you with extra detail and installation shots of the work.
2. Purchase artwork:
When you express an interest in purchasing a painting from us, we would automatically, put it on reserve for you for the next 48 hours. When a painting has been decided upon, we would appreciate it if you could tell us your preferred method of payment. You will also need to provide us with your full mailing address so that the painting can be shipped to you. When everything has been quoted and confirmed, we will give you a final invoice and a credit card authorization form to be completed, signed and returned. If a credit card is not your preferred method of payment, you may also wire money directly to our bank account. To wire takes a little more time since we cannot make the shipment until the transaction has arrived in our bank account. On average the transfer takes 3-7 working days. For anybody living close enough to Detour Gallery, we are, of course, available to receive any form of payment at the gallery. In some cases, certain paintings can be purchased directly through our website via Paypal.
3. Packing / Shipping
We ship all over the world using common carriers (UPS/FEDEX/ODFL) for domestic and international shipping. Shipping charges vary depending on product size and weight. All artwork is carefully packaged and boxed. Many original and glass framed works must be shipped in wood crates, the gallery will contact you upon purchase if this is the case to discuss shipping options and charges. All orders are shipped the same week the purchase is made, unless specified otherwise, Monday to Friday during opening hours. Contact us if you have specific shipping questions.
4. Tax and VAT
All items purchased from Detour Gallery are subject to New Jersey sales tax (6.625%). Items required to be shipped out of state within the U.S via common carrier are exempt from sales tax. When a package is shipped internationally, it may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and/or fees imposed by the destination country. These charges will typically be due once the shipped goods arrive at the country of destination. You are responsible for ensuring to comply with laws and regulations of the country of destination. Detour Gallery does not have any responsibility for these additional charges that may apply. Please note that certain countries may require certain documentation before the items are sent. If the necessary information is not provided, this may result in delays in the order.
5. Refund Policy
If you are not satisfied with your artwork from Detour Gallery, the item may be returned or exchanged within 14 days of the first delivery attempt. The artwork must be in original condition; we do not accept refunds for products showing any signs of wear or damage. In addition, we do not allow returns or exchanges on any custom commissioned artworks (any items that we do not usually keep in stock or that have to be custom made.). At Detour Gallery, we are confident that you will be thrilled with your artwork; however, if the item is not to your liking or specifications, we feel that 14 days is enough time to evaluate your purchase.
Custom made or specially ordered pieces are created especially for, and based on, the exact requirements of each individual client and therefore may not be returned or exchanged.
To return a painting, you must first speak with your art consultant at Detour Gallery to obtain a return authorization number. Without a return authorization number, the item will be shipped back to the sender. Your return package should include the item, along with any packaging and documents that came with it. Go to your local post office or carrier, have the item fully insured for the purchase price, and ship it to our address at Detour Gallery contact page. Please note that Detour Gallery cannot be responsible for any shipping charges or insurance fees on refunded items. Ask for a return receipt for confirmation that your shipment has reached us.
6. Security Policy
We guarantee the highest level of security for your confidential information while you shop. When placing orders, all of your personal information including name and contact information cannot be read by anybody else as we receive it.
7. Your Feedback
